Juan Karlos recently made OPM history. The singer/actor recently dropped his “Sad Songs and Bullsh*t Part 1” album and there is a clear-cut favorite for the biggest hit off the project. “Ere” has been going viral all over the Philippines and its popularity has made the track break various Spotify records for Filipino artists.
Originally, “Ere” debuted at 177th on the Spotify Global Charts on Sunday Oct. 8 with 1.22M streams before cracking the top 100 at #87 later thanks to earning 1.45M streams. The break-up inspired banger also broke a Spotify Philippines record for more streams in a day that was originally held by Taylor Swift.
“Sad Songs and Bullsh*t Part 1” is inspired by Juan Karlos dealing with a break-up and the album is full of songs similar to “Ere” that will have you in your feels. You can listen to "Ere" below!
Juan Karlos just released a new album and on the body of work he’s bringing all of the feels. Appropriately titled “Sad Songs and Bulls**t Part 1," the nine-track offering is the perfect soundtrack for a rainy season in the Philippines that appears to have no ending anytime soon.
Juan Karlos took to Instagram to share a personal message about his new project:
"shit I can’t believe this whole project would come into fruition. this album originally started out as a compilation of all the love songs that I made for someone whom I gave so much of myself to. a collection of all the words I wrote and the melodies that came along with it. eventually, things didn’t turn out the way I hoped for. the songs started to not make any sense. all the songs for love turned into songs for sadness. for me at least, they just became a bunch of bullshit. Hence, Sad Songs and Bullshit."
“Sad Songs and Bulls**t Part 1" contains nine tracks -- "Sad Songs and Bulls**t," "ERE," "may halaga pa ba ako sayo??," "Manhid," "Paruparo," "Gabi," "Time Machine," "Lumisan," and "Tapusin Na Natin To," a collaboration with Paolo Benjamin from Ben&Ben.
“Sad Songs and Bulls**t Part 1" comes three years after the singer/actor’s album “Diwa.” You can stream “Sad Songs and Bulls**t Part 1" from Juan Karlos here.
Juan Karlos just dropped a surprise single and it will definitely have you in your feels. “Kunwari” is a song about being willing to wait for someone at all costs. The emotionally-driven track was released via Island Records Philippines and is now on all major music platforms.

Isang Gabi - Julie Anne San Jose & Rico Blanco
Upon its release, the track debuted at #1 on the iTunes Philippines all-genre chart. The track is produced and written by OPM rock icon Rico Blanco. It brings Julie into the shoes of the “third party” in someone else’s relationship, as it explores themes of forbidden love and longing for someone you can’t have. The music brings a unique mix of musical styles — featuring the Pinoy jukebox style of hugot, and putting some modern synth elements.
Paalam - Moira Dela Torre & Ben&Ben
The music video slyly continues the story of Dela Torre’s previous music video for “Patawad, Paalam,” about young lovers suddenly parting ways just when one was about to propose marriage. Paalam again stars JM de Guzman and Anna Luna, though the video this time focuses on the clear regret their characters felt over how their relationship ended.
Pati Pato (Parokya Remix) - Parokya Ni Edgar, Gloc-9, & Shanti Dope
The Pati Pato (Parokya Mix) brings the rest of Parokya Ni Edgar to join in on reimagining the original track. Now enhanced with with blasting and bold guitar and percussion backings, fans of the Parokya rock vibe and the fiery hot OPM collab keeps them on their toes with this new mix.
Sampaguita - Juan Karlos ft. Gloc-9
Juan Karlos has teamed up with rapper Gloc-9 to pay tribute to overseas Filipino workers (OFW) in Sampaguita. It opens with Gloc-9 rapping from the perspective of an OFW writing home to his wife. It then leads into an emotional chorus and closes out with a somber note on a familiar Filipino story.
Sana Tayo Na - Darren Espanto & Jayda
This song helped Jayda embracing her OPM roots. It was written over two decades ago by her dad and now it came full circle. Jayda and Darren shot the video at home and separate from each other as Darren was in Canada. Fans can even do a duet on TikTok to the song with the duo.
