Us Again is the first new Disney short in five years to debut alongside Raya and the Last Dragon. Directed by Zach Parrish, the animation is set to drop on Disney+ in June. The project will stay true to a Disney animation, it'll tug on your emotions brought by music, dance, and storytelling. The last animation released was Inner Workings during the release of Moana in 2016.
Also attached to the project are choreographers/dancers Keone and Mari Madrid. The duo are known for appearing in World of Dance and working with artists like Justin Bieber. According to Keone's Instagram, they've been working on the project since 2019 and it's been a dream come true for them. He also shares the excitement of one day sharing the animation with their daughter.
Zach Parrish shared how their chemistry was portrayed through choreography, “I loved that their dance style felt like it was made for animation, and that there was this genuine, honest and organic connection between them..." The story was inspired by Parrish's own grandparents and the idea of growing old and keeping the inner spirit alive. "I started thinking about how someone might look at the world differently as things change and they grow older.” The dance community and Disney fans are all excited to see this come to life soon.
