If you’ve been on social media this week, you’ve seen the viral clips of the Philippine women's national football team scoring their first ever goal and securing their first ever victory in the FIFA Women's World Cup on Tuesday. The underdog Filipinas squad earned a hard-fought 1-0 victory, upsettin co-host New Zealand. It was Sarina Bolden who scored the Philippines first ever goal at the FIFA Women's World Cup. She achieved the historic feat off a header at the 24th minute mark of the match. This would be the lone goal of the defensive match-up and Philippines goalie Olivia McDaniel earned Player of the Match honors thanks to her superb goaltending.

The Philippine women's national football team plays #12 ranked team Norway on July 30, with a chance to advance to the knockout stages. The Philippines enters the head-to-head as an underdog, but Norway recently lost to New Zealand in their first group play match. Best of luck to the Philippine women's national football team!
