Saweetie spoke with TMZ Live for Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month. She talked about the role of social media in bringing awareness to anti-Asian violence. One of the pros of social media she mentions is that people are able to "circulate what is happening in real time."
She goes on to talk about her Filipinos and mentions its recently been a conversation in her household. "They're traditional Filipinos. It's important that everyone feels safe and there's equality amongst everyone."
"That could have been my grandmother...and she's scared and I think that's not okay... We should all feel comfortable, safe, and protected when walking down the street."

They talk about the overall goal and end game of a special like this where Asian voices are amplified is to educate. Saweetie says that the end game and purpose is to educate. She believes people must “unlearn the hate that was taught to them and condoned” through education.
“I think the more we talk about it, the more events we have, and the more we strive to raise awareness, we can slowly start to undo those strings of hate.”
