Raveena expands her sonic universe with deluxe album on Feb. 28

Singer-songwriter Raveena is set to expand the world of her latest album, “Where the Butterflies Go in the Rain,” with a deluxe edition arriving on February 28.

The upcoming release introduces two new tracks, an updated version of "Lose My Focus" featuring Umi, and a remix of the song. While the original album captured themes of love, comfort, and maturity, this extended version delves deeper into climate grief and nostalgia for a simpler era.

Finalizing the deluxe edition in the midst of the LA wildfires, Raveena channeled the chaos into her artistry. Alongside the announcement, she released "Sun Don’t Leave Me," a heartfelt single paired with a visually rich music video filmed in South Africa.

“This song captures the feeling of grief for a simpler time on Earth—for the grief of our Earth’s resources, climate, and beauty rapidly declining,” she shared. “I was feeling the intensity of this song more than ever because of the ways the fires in LA were affecting me and my loved ones, as a person in the highest level evacuation zone.”

Blending emotional depth with nostalgic influences, Raveena crafted this record with inspiration from Fleetwood Mac, Joni Mitchell, and Leon Bridges. She seamlessly weaves traditional Indian instrumentation with the warmth of early 2000s pop and the soul of legends like Brandy, Bob Marley, and Marvin Gaye. “I was really inspired by people who are really good at capturing the beauty and loss of life in the same breath,” she explained.

The deluxe album follows the release of Where the Butterflies Went, a 30-minute film executive produced by James Beard Award-winning chef and two-time Emmy nominee Sophia Roe, in collaboration with the multidisciplinary collective Aerthship. The film reinforces the album’s themes of personal and environmental transformation.

Since Asha’s Awakening, Raveena has continued breaking barriers, becoming the first Indian woman to perform solo at Coachella and touring internationally. Reflecting on her growth, she noted, “I don’t think I’ve ever understood a record so well before… This time, it was all intuition, and I knew the album was right when I finally had the feeling of rest.”

With the deluxe edition’s release just around the corner and tour dates on the horizon, Raveena invites listeners to immerse themselves further into her evolving soundscape. Until then, fans can experience "Sun Don’t Leave Me" through its breathtaking music video while anticipating the full release at the end of the month.
