Here are some of the lyrics from the song:

“14 and I’m thinking ‘bout God again In the back of our car

Everyone is so far from me

17 and I’m feeling so out of place

I’ve been moving too much and lately I’ve been running round in circles everyday”

“19 and I’m getting so drunk again

And I’m falling in love

With everyone just for a minute

20 and I’m running away from everything I dropped out of school to end up waking on another cold park bench”

Marketing has transformed throughout the years as digital platforms have taken the spotlight. John Vincent Salcedo is the Vice President of Digital Marketing at Columbia Records and has been taking music marketing to the next level. This FAHM Spotlight focuses on this music industry creative who's creating fresh ideas with some of your favorite artist.

1. John Vincent was born in the Philippines and migrated to New Jersey at 11 years old
Born in Quezon City, Philippines and moved around in the Philippines from Pangasinan, Muntinlupa, and Albang then settling to New Jersey. He remembers early on that music saved his life and he learned how to speak English from hip-hop. Who's definitely made friends through music and liking the same song? We definitely had!

2. He began in Digital Marketing with Sony Music in 2013
To have music in his life, it was only natural that John Vincent is where he is now. He began his career designing social media calendars and managing content calendars then it translated into a coordinator position. After a few years with Sony Music and reaching managerial and specialist positions, he moved on to Columbia Records from Director of Digital Marketing to his current position as Vice President.

3. His process involves immersing himself into the music
When working with an artists and trying to create unique and fresh digital campaigns, John Vincent really dives into the music. He's worked with some of the biggest names in the industry like Harry Styles, Lil Nas X, John Legend, and fellow Filipino Dominic Fike to give us some of the song that constantly get stuck in our heads. He describes his process to Purveyr.com, "I prepare and study a lot. I listen to the music. A lot. I do everything to understand what I’m working on, and for me to be able to do that I immerse myself in the music and the artist as much as possible. Everything usually clicks from there." Some of his favorite projects include: Eroda, the release for Harry Styles’ Adore You and ‘Fine Line’ album, and Lil Nas X with "Old Town Road."

4. His advice for those looking to be part of the music industry, "be someone that wants to help people."
We all are looking for advice on how to make it in our dream career and just survive in this world, but John Vincent offered Purveyr great advice on what it takes to be part of music marketing. "Truly and genuinely care about the music and the artist. It starts there...do it because you love and are passionate about it. A lot of this looks glamorous and cool, but there’s a real deep hustle and grind behind it. You must love this for real. Enough that you’d do it for free."

5. John Vincent looks to help fellow Filipinos find their calling
Not only does he want to help showcase more Filipino artists, but also get us a seat at the table. At 28 years old, he's one of the youngest and the only Filipino in the Board. He was also included in Billboard's 2021 R&B/Hip-Hop Power Players list and the recognition proves why representation is important. Being part of the list meant a lot to him and his family as it came full circle. Despite having to learn English when he first migrated, John Vincent made it in America and wants to inspire fellow Filipinos to follow their passion in any industry. He tells us to not limit ourselves!
