Filipino singer-songwriter syd hartha addresses her personal battles in life on “gabay,” her debut project under Sony Music Entertainment. In touch with her own fragilities, the rising artist digs deeper into her experiences with trauma, heartbreak, pandemic stress, and healing on an EP that feels more than just a warm balm.
According to syd hartha, gabay is crucial in reclaiming her identity as it helps her confront emotional truths in a way that is freeing and empowering. The folk-pop act explains: “My new EP is a compilation of different stories from my adventures and misadventures as a young woman. It mainly talks about healing and taking control over your own destiny; letting go
of the past, and getting to know yourself again.”
The six-track EP was originally scheduled to be recorded with syd hartha’s band and producer in March 2020, but was delayed due to the pandemic. “My band and I were already scheduled for the recording of the whole EP in March 2020,” she explained. “The pandemic happened, and it caused significant disruption to our plans. But everything happens for a reason. It gave me room to explore and grow at my own pace.”

The writing says “Bela” (“Bella”) in baybayin. A pre-colonial script that was almost taken from us, but we are reviving it.
Proud of this Bay Area Pinay and excited to see HER in BATB!

SB19 has quite the surprise for local Filipino fans! The P-pop Kings recently finished an international tour and now they have announced the WYAT Homecoming Concert. The one night special will go down on Dec. 18 at the famed Araneta Coliseum in Manila. Fans interested in attending the extravaganza can purchase tickets via Ticket Net.
In addition to the show announcement, SB19 has also dropped a new song. “Nyebe,” which translates to “snow” in Tagalog, was written by band leader Pablo. He shared his inspiration behind the ballad a press statement: “I was thinking about the feeling of hopelessness, knowing and accepting that things are changing too fast. Time doesn’t stop, things around us happen so fast. At the end of the day, matutunaw rin ang Nyebe (the snow will eventually melt away and fade). We just have to live with it and pray, there is always a ray of hope”.
