Tarsier Records artist SAB
is back with a new music video! “Happy You Stayed” is an indie-pop song inspired by wholesome and heartfelt vibes and is dedicated to the singer/songwriter’s best friends. The single shows a level of maturity from the artist, who expresses her appreciation for everyone in her life and also her proud feelings towards their accomplishments.

SAB shared some thoughts with us regarding her new track via press release:

“I wrote “Happy You Stayed” in the summer of 2021. It was actually written at the same time as the title track of my first EP Sunsets and Heaven. At the time, I was exploring college life as a freshman and realized how different it was to not have the friends you grew up with be therewith you. I ended up writing “Happy You Stayed” for my best friends, basically saying everything Iwanted to say to them. It was my way of saying that even if we’re having different experiences, I’m happy that they stayed and I’m really proud of everything they’re doing. It was saying if you’re struggling right now, just know that I’m also here to be here for you whenever. The story behind the song has a wholesome and heartfelt vibe.”

After releasing the heartfelt track, "Happy You Stayed," SAB now has an official lyric video for fans to sing along to. The track, which is a thank-you note to the people who are still present in her life. The video was perfect timing as it released just as she went on tour in the US with the Star Magic gang just a few weeks ago.

SAB is grateful for the people in her life regardless of the different paths life has taken them. It's also a reminder for everyone that regardless of what you’re struggling with right now, SAB will be here to keep you company.

The song was written at the same time as the title track for her first EP, Sunsets and Heaven. SAB was exploring college life as a freshman and realized how much she missed her friends. Not having your close friends by your side is a big change that impacted her new experience, but she knew her friends were still supporting her.

The Pistahan Parade and Festival in San Francisco recently brought Filipinos together in the Bay Area. See them hold up the Philippines' flag and share smiles all around. This is also the first time where some of the US-based artists met artists from the Philippines. It goes to show how music is a universal language that touches all parts of the world.

To get in the spirit of the 29th Annual Pishtahan, everyone had a great time on the MYX Float while fans were able to catch their favorite artists in-person or see them perform live. Adding to the excitement, MYX Global had a booth where we gave away a custom BumpBoxx prize!

Going back to her indie-pop roots, the singer-songwriter SAB starts a new chapter in her career with "I’d Like To." This is her first single under Tarsier Records and collaboration with label head Moophs. Looking to dive deeper into the genre of indie-pop, this is a slight change to her previous sound of chill indie and ballads.

After releasing a mix of chill indie, upbeat, and ballads, I realized I wanted to dive deeper into the indie-pop genre of my song ‘She’ which focused more on having a youthful, natural, and ukulele style.

SAB

“I’d Like To” is an indie-pop track that touches on the themes of puppy love and teenage awkwardness that took inspiration from SAB’s personal experience of having a crush on one of her best friends. The track is influenced by the sounds of dodie, Will Jay, and AJ Rafael, and worked with Moophs to co-write and produce it.

With 1MX Dubai and 1MX Manila just around the corner, we wanted to spotlight some of the artists featured in the festival. We're kicking things off with rising indie-pop singer, SAB! Let's get to know her before the big show!

SAB's debut single, "She" was already featured on series and movies
The song, "She" was featured in the groundbreaking Pinoy digital series and movie, Hello Stranger and the critically acclaimed K-Drama Flower of Evil. In addition to that, she also did her own rendition of the theme song to the hit Pinoy series, "He's Into Her."

Her first EP, Sunsets and Heaven debuted in 2021
Fun fact: the cover art for her EP was part of an art project SAB did when she was younger. SAB wanted the cover to represent a fond memory and her mom suggested her childhood painting then the rest was history. The EP contains 6 original tracks.

SAB isn't only a performing, but also a songwriter
You may have heard some of SAB's original compositions performed by other artists. These include BINI's track, "Golden Arrow." SAB also wrote english lyrics of "Ako Naman Muna (English Version) to Angela Ken's original song "Ako Naman Muna." SAB can basically do it all, she sings, writes, and performs her own instruments (guitar and piano).

Get to know more about SAB in this MYXclusive as she reflects about her journey so far and talks about her debut EP "Sunsets and Heaven." SAB just celebrated her first anniversary in the industry with a digital concert and had special guests who joined her on Facebook and Kumu live. She also shared how she's been balancing her time between school, music, and hobbies like watching anime.

As a fresh incoming artist, she was most surprised by how she improved on stage presence because of her chill and easygoing personality. Although live music and performances were put on hold for the last year and a half, SAB grew into herself as an artist. With that comes her debut EP Sunsets and Heaven, which spurred from a Kumu livestream where she asked the viewers to throw out words and SAB would create a song with it on the spot. What was a fun segment she did turned into the title track and the name of her EP. According to SAB, it just felt right so she went for it. Check out the rest of the MYXclusive below and get all the details about SAB and her Sunsets and Heaven EP streaming on all platforms.

The six-track EP thematically presents slice of life stories and the ups and downs of growing up that took inspiration from her personal story and those that she sees around her. With slice of life songs about growing up
Indie pop singer-songwriter SAB lets listeners in on her genuine experiences and candid musings on life, relationships, and humanity through her debut extended play (EP) record “Sunsets and Heaven,” released under Star Music.

“This EP focuses on the genuine experiences you get from making meaningful connections with yourself, family, friends, lovers, society and the world. By meeting people from different walks of life, you allow yourself to grow,” SAB said.

The six-track EP—entirely written and composed by SAB and produced by ABS-CBN Music creative director Jonathan Manalo—thematically presents slice of life stories and the ups and downs of growing up that took inspiration from her personal story and those that she sees around her.

The EP’s key track “Sunsets and Heaven” paints the sunshiny realization of liking someone. Another single in the EP, “2AM,” is a reflective piece marveling at life’s ironies and finding courage during the odd hours. Previously released songs “She,” “Dancing in the Dark,” “Always Stay the Same,” and “Cancelledt” are also included in the mini album.

Last Friday (July 23), SAB celebrated her first music anniversary and mini album launch via her kumu and Facebook pages. The virtual event was graced by Vivoree, fellow Star Music artists Angela Ken and Lian Kyla, and Anthony Jennings and Daniella Stranner, who starred in the music video for “2AM,” out now on Apple Music.

An artist who uses music to express herself and reach out to those who can relate to her experiences, SAB came out with her debut single “She” in July 2020, which went on to be featured in the K-Drama “Flower of Evil” and Black Sheep’s “Hello Stranger” series and movie. Recently, she inked a contract under Star Magic, and also adapted the lyrics of Angela’s hit single “Ako Naman Muna” to English to reach global listeners.
