Singing is in this young Fil-Canadian singer's blood. Tyson Venegas hails from Port Moody and is no stranger when it comes to singing competitions. We first caught a glimpse of him on The Voice Teen PH and he made most of the judges turn their chairs around. Now, he's impressing the likes of Lionel Richie, Katy Perry, and Luke Bryan on American Idol, earning him the first Platinum Ticket this season.

The 17-year-old performed a rendition of Billy Joel's New York State of Mind while also playing the keys which earned him shocking reactions from the judges. According to Vancouver Sun, Lionel Richie said, "He’s claiming to be 17 years old, but he’s performing like a 45-year-old.” Viewers can see that the young singer has a knack for classic tunes and he has a way of portraying a story through music.
