Yellow Room Music - home to celebrated OPM artists such as Mayonnaise, Mojofly, Sharlene San Pedro, Madeline, and many more - celebrated their 9th anniversary last August 13 at Alabang Town Center, Muntinlupa City. Despite a bit of downpour during the afternoon, music fans flocked to the Town Plaza to watch the music festival featuring performances from 11 artists currently part of the YR roster.
Soloists LEILA and Julia Daniel opened the show with a mix of covers and original songs, showcasing their recent releases under YR Music - "Tampo" by Julia Daniel released just last August 5, and a surprise song from LEILA to be announced later this month.
They were followed by performances from bands Night Over Alaska hailing all the way from the north, Kuatro Kantos with their trademark fun and quirky songs, and 647 with tunes perfect for the chill rainy afternoon.
Crowd favorite Mojofly performed songs both old and new, including a first-ever live performance of their recent collaboration with Monty Macalino of Mayonnaise entitled "Simpatiko." Suddenly Monday, one of YR's up-and-coming bands, came next.
Multi-hyphenate Sharlene San Pedro performed original songs she released from 2019 to this year, as well as a rocking Paramore cover. Southern Lights and Madeline - two powerhouse staples in Metro Manila gigs and YR nights, also rocked the YR9 stage with their original songs.
The very first band under Yellow Room Music - Mayonnaise closed the event. They performed some of their timeless hits, including "Synesthesia" and "Tayo Na Lang Dalawa," got the crowd jumping and singing especially during "Jopay."
Host Ai Dela Cruz was also one of the highlights of the show, with her charm and energy keeping the crowd engaged during the long fun-filled hours that was YR9.
YR Music is always working hard to bring great music to the wonderful music fans who keep on supporting the local scene, and there will definitely be more music and events to watch out for within 2022 and beyond.
